Noortje read law and completed her degree in Dutch Law focusing on criminal law at the University of Maastricht, the Netherlands. She also completed her degree in Psychology at the University of Maastricht. Noortje graduated early 2009.

During the initial stages of her legal traineeship Noortje was primarily involved in business law, IT law and commercial disputes, and is currently specializing in criminal law. She provides legal assistance at all stages of criminal proceedings: at ‘dawn raids’ (searches), during the interview of clients as a witness or a suspect by special investigation officers (e.g. FIOD-ECD), during negotiations with the Public Prosecutors Department on out-of-court settlements and during court hearings. She is a member of the Dutch Young Bar and de Dutch Organization of Young Criminal Defence Lawyers (NVJSA).
