William Guy

Tax Lawyer

William Guy is based in The Netherlands where he is a tax lawyer with VMW Taxand, specialised in corporate tax compliance. He has more than 11 years of corporate tax compliance experience.

William started his career in 1999 (- 2001) as junior trust officer with Zarf Trust Corporation (currently part of the TMF-Group) in Rotterdam. In 2001 (- 2006) he joined Arthur Andersen (currently part of Deloitte) corporate tax compliance team in Rotterdam, specialised in the use of Abacus (Thomson Reuters’ Advanced Tax compliance tool).

In 2006 ( - 2010) William joined TNT Head Office / Group Tax Department as the corporate tax compliance manager and has worked extensively in corporate tax compliance in the following areas:

• preparing, reviewing and filing of the TNT and joint venture companies Dutch corporate income tax returns (and estimation forms) under a Revenue audit / covenant with the Dutch Tax Authority;
• reviewing of Dutch corporate income tax assessments, filing appeals and communicating (payment instructions) with the Dutch tax authority and the financial and corporate functions within TNT;
• providing the necessary input for tax advise on Dutch corporate income tax, dividend tax,  withholding tax, tax accounting and for due diligence purposes;
• setting-up and implementing the (Abacus) compliance process; contributing to the set up and managing of the SOx / Tax control framework compliance process;
• building and maintaining a solid relationship with and primary point of contact for Dutch Tax Authority, Financial Directors and financial and corporate functions within TNT Head Office.

Between 2006 and 2010, William led the Tax Compliance knowledge Group (TCK), a group 25 Dutch Tax Compliance Managers / Tax Accountants of AEX / AMX listed Multinationals discussing and sharing views on new legislation, procedures, tax reporting and (compliance) tools.

William Guy studies Tax Law at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and graduated from the Hogeschool Holland. William is a Dutch and UK national.
